You can hold off on buying Aretha Franklin any wedding gifts. The Queen of Soul issued the following statement earlier this week: "Regretfully, To Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends. --Aretha and Will."

 

Halle Berry's nanny, Alliance Kamden, who Gabriel Aubry, the father of Halle's three-year-old daughter Nahla, allegedly pushed into a door while she was holding Nahla - was refused a restraining order against the model. Alliance claimed she feared retaliation by Aubry, but the judge called her petition "insufficient and speculative." The judge said Alliance's issues should be resolved in family court.

 

Jennifer Hudson has become a New York Times Best Selling author with the release of her first book, "I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down." She recently tweeted: "Just found out my book is going to be #8 on the New York Times Best Sellers list next week. Incredible! Thank you everyone." Her literary effort explores what it took for Hudson to lose over 80 pounds and keep it off.

 

The Harlem Theatre Arts Festival (HTAF) will debut January 26 through January 30 at the Dwyer, George Faison's Firehouse and at Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre - all in Harlem. The debut Festival includes works presented by the New Heritage Theatre Group, The Negro Ensemble Company and the National Black Theatre. For its inaugural run, the HFAF will honor wife, mother, philanthropist, actress, singer and upcoming reality TV star, Dhonna Goodale at the presentation of "Poof" on January 28 at 7:30 PM at the George Faison Firehouse.
