Statement Sheila E. Twitter page:

“Hi family, I just did a Facebook live video. This is part of what was said. Thank you for what was an amazing week in Minneapolis, as our purple city celebrated the NFL, it’s championship game, entertainment, and all things Minnesotan.

During the later part of the week, controversy reared it’s head in anticipation of the halftime entertainment show. Once again, as what seems to be all too common in our society, there was division, anger, and anxiety instead of what should have been a time celebration.

Celebrating joy, and reflection of the life and the music of Prince. I want to apologize for any role I may have played in causing a distraction during one of our most cherished sports event, as well as any ill-will toward the efforts of organizations and artist who gave their best in representing their talents in making this “Bold North” Super Bowl one of the best in NFL history. Congratulations to Philly, the participants, Minnesota, and to everyone who shared their talents. May your purple light shine within forever.

Love,

Sheila E.”
