The North Broad Renaissance – a non-profit that’s supporting revitalization efforts along North Broad Street, helped promote Small Business Saturday with the NBR #SmallBizSat Takeover, a community outreach effort to help spread awareness about Small Business Saturday, while supporting some of the community’s favorite small businesses along North Broad Street.
“Small Business Saturday is a great effort to support small business during the holiday season and beyond,” states Shalimar Thomas, Executive Director of the North Broad Renaissance. “Small businesses will play a vital role in our economic development efforts, and efforts to provide jobs to the North Broad community. It’s important that we support them and help them grow.”
According to research, small businesses in the professional service industry is key to economic revitalization along North Broad Street, and the community is a key part in helping these small businesses thrive. Small Business Saturday is a great way to remind the community of the importance of shopping and supporting small businesses.
Two businesses were selected for this initiative. Barbers on Board (located at 905 North Broad Street in Philadelphia) and Asanti Hair Studio (located at 1220 North Broad Street in Philadelphia). The effort provided an opportunity for the community to support these businesses, learn about Small Business Saturday, and learn about the NBR and opportunities to get involved.
Founded by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
