Over 250 people filed into the Philadelphia Marriot located at 1201 Market Street Saturday to celebrate women who are making a powerful difference in their communities. The Unsung Heroes award luncheon, which was held in Marriott Ballroom featured the Managing Editor of Ebony Magazine, Terry Glover; and Jarvis Brown the Manager of Consumer Print (Clorox Company).

This year’s “Unsung Hero Honorees” were Nicola Tollett-Jefferson (the Achievement Project), Delores Freeman-Clybourn (The Nia Center), Lorraine McGirt (Urban Youth Association), Linda Burnette (YO-A-CAP), and Erica Waller-Hill (Destined for A Dream Foundation).

The Pine Sol Lady, Diane Amos, warmed up the audience by explaining her life story and how she became an actress as well as a comedian. Featured Author, Valorie Burton, writer of How Did I Get So Busy was the Keynote Speaker at the luncheon.

She spoke about reconnecting with what matters most in your life and how to reclaim your schedule. Each guest received a copy of her book and other products donated by Ebony Magazine, Pine-Sol® and the Colorox Company. This year, award luncheons were held in New Orleans and Philadelphia, with one more scheduled for Los Angeles in the Fall.
